Why Butterfly Grove Was Created

About Butterfly Grove

Butterfly Grove was created in response to the growing number of neurodivergent children who are not thriving within traditional educational environments despite being bright, capable learners. As both educators and parents, we recognised the need for a calmer, more relational learning environment where children could feel emotionally safe while continuing to grow academically, socially, and personally.

The Founder

Guided by a vision of emotional safety and neurodivergent-friendly learning, Dee-Anne leads Butterfly Grove with decades of expertise and personal insight.

Dee-Anne McMenamin

Founder & Lead Educator

Dee-Anne is an experienced educator with a strong background in supporting children with diverse learning and emotional needs. She has taught in Scotland and in the UK for over 20 years.

Through both professional experience and personal insight as a parent of a neurodivergent child, she became increasingly aware of the gap that exists for children who are capable learners but are struggling to cope within mainstream educational environments.

Her vision for Butterfly Grove is grounded in emotional safety, nervous-system-aware learning, and the belief that children thrive when they feel understood, respected, and genuinely connected to the adults around them.
